Women's Guild
The Women’s Guild celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2007 and numbers approximately 150 in its membership.
The purpose of the Guild shall be the spiritual development of the members attained by promoting the spiritual, charitable and social activities of Our Lady of Victory~ Our Lady of Hope parishioners.
Women who are interested in the objectives of the Guild are eligible and welcome for membership. Yearly dues are $10.00.
Regular monthly meetings are held at 1:00 pm on the second Monday of each month beginning with Benediction and the Annual Tea in September and ending with the Annual Luncheon in June. In the event of a holiday falling on the second Monday of the month the meeting will take place on the third Monday .
Each month the Guild attempts to provide a program of interest which may feature a speaker, music, other entertainment, socialization as well as fund-raising activities for local charities. Suggestions by the members are encouraged and welcome.
Please call the Parish Office at (508) 775-5744 if you are interested in the Guild, or send an email to ministries@olvparish.org.
The Guild usually sponsors two major events:
The Craft Fair in early August to which vendors come from near and far to
participate. The Guild hosts its own Craft table of lovely hand-crafted items as well as a Snack bar.
The Harvest Fair in early November is primarily a two-day event at which the members join together in a fundraiser that attracts a good following. The Fair consists of tables with collectibles, jewelry, baby clothes and doll accessories, handcrafted items, knitted creations, giftware, floral creations. A raffle and silent auction and an extensive snack bar are also features.
In commeration of the 50th Anniversary of Our Lady of Victory Church, the Past Presidents have published a cookbook, “ Cooking With Hope and Victory” as a special historical tribute and fundraiser. The Guild is most appreciative to so many who contributed recipes. A special thank you to two exceptionally- talented Guild members, Marge Keary and Ann Corbett, both well-known local artists, for their beautiful artwork
which clearly gives a special beauty to the cookbook.
Fundraising proceeds are given to local charities and to the support of the Parish.
In addition to Guild activities, many members of the Guild are active in other aspects of service to the parish as well as to the community, helping others in need and/or those less fortunate.
