Homeless Prevention and Services
Many folks on the Cape experience a variety of personal difficulties that cause them to become dependent on others for their food and shelter. Volunteers from Our Lady of Victory contribute much and often to programs that address those needs. All who serve come away not only grateful for their own fortunes, but feeling tremendously rewarded by the experience of meeting these wonderful people, who are quick to say “Thanks” and “God Bless You.”
Please call the Parish Office at (508) 775-5744 if you are interested in these ministries or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Overnights of Hospitality
If you eat, you can use the Food gift cards sold after each Mass! Volunteers are needed for several of the Masses. Your commitment could be as little as once a month. If interested call Paul Nielsen at 508-771-2393 or e-mail at email@example.com. To paraphrase the Beatitudes “if you help Mine, you help Me.”
In 2000, Our Lady of Victory Parish became a member of the Barnstable Interfaith Council (BIC). Food certificates are purchased by BIC from:
Cape Cod Health Food Store
Stop and Shop
Country Garden among others!
Buying in bulk allows BIC to receive a 5% discount. Food certificates are then sold to buyers at face value and, at no cost to the buyer, 5% of the purchase goes to the Prevention of Homeless Program.

Volunteers from Our Lady of Victory participate in this program, coordinated by the staff at the Salvation Army, to provide a church setting for qualified homeless men and women to spend the night. More than 30 church communities of all denominations participate in this effort. The OLV volunteers help those communities that provide housing by providing chaperones, drivers, and food.
Homeless guests are picked up at the Salvation Army at 6 p.m. by the drivers and brought to the host church where they are greeted by two chaperones. A light evening snack and a light breakfast are provided by our volunteer “cooks.”
This busy and happy ministry welcomes as many volunteers as possible. Scheduling is at the volunteer’s convenience.back to top
For many years, Our Lady of Victory parishioners have provided lunch and friendship for 50-70 needy folks of the Hyannis area. Volunteers deliver 10 lunches consisting of 2 sandwiches, cookies, a banana, a napkin, and a cold drink. The bags are distributed at 11:30 each Sunday morning at the NOAH shelter on Winter Street in Hyannis. To participate, simply sign up on the calendar in the “candle room” at the rear of the Church.
The NOAH shelter also depends on OLV volunteers to feed 50/60 clients residing there. Wednesday night, known as “Soup and Sandwich Supper Night” is our responsibility. Volunteers prepare food in their homes and deliver it by 4:45 p.m. With the help of the kitchen staff, the food is warmed if necessary, and served by 5:30. OLV is proud to be the only group of volunteers to commit to this wonderful service every Wednesday evening. More help is always welcomed and much needed!
